MSSM is Looking for Presenters for the STEM Summer Collaborative

07 Jan 2013 1:58 PM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

What exciting ways are you inspiring and engaging middle and high school students in science, technology, engineering or mathematics?  Would you like to share your expertise and experiences with fellow STEM educators?  The Maine School of Science and Mathematics (MSSM) is currently seeking presenters for our 2013 Educators' Camp. We invite you to share your knowledge and expertise with other STEM and interdisciplinary educators (grades 6-12) this summer.

Presenters will teach a week-long, immersive course to fellow STEM educators.  Courses might focus on a technique, activity or resource that you've used successfully in a STEM classroom or after-school program. We’re looking for technology, physics, chemistry, biology, middle school science, high school math, middle school math, engineering, robotics, STEM literacy, and interdisciplinary course proposals. We will review each application and proposal and contact everyone who applies.  We will be selecting approx. 20 course proposals for the 2013 Collaborative.

In addition, we will provide an $825.00 stipend and free room and board for all presenters whose courses are selected.  If you wish to co-teach a course, the stipend will be divided among co-presenters; each presenter should submit a separate application with the same course outline. Presenters will teach their course twice each day over the five-day week.  Each class meets 2 hours each day, for a total of 10 hours per course. Presenters will have the opportunity to attend one week-long course and engage in the afternoon activities.  Employment begins Saturday, July 28, 2013 and ends Friday, August 2, 2013.

To apply, please complete the presenter application (available on our website or by request) and provide the indicated supplemental materials. Applications are due by February 1, 2013. Please send all materials to MSSM Educators’ Camp, 95 High St., Limestone, ME 04750.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at 207-325-3610 or email me at smithl@mssm.org.  More information about this opportunity can be found at www.mssm.org.

Warm regards,
